A few short months ago, Vegan Wines went to beautiful Tuscany in Italy and visited a variety of incredible wineries.  We got to know and learn from many passionate winemakers, and ate some of the best food we’ve had to date; all while taking in the breathtaking views of the rolling hills of Tuscany.   For those of you who have been or even seen pictures of this region, know it’s one of the most magical places on earth.  Additionally, food and wine is at the center of business and people’s lives, so we felt right at home while doing research for our wine club.

This is why we are so excited to able to announce that two of our absolute favorite wineries  from the entire trip are finally in stock at Vegan Wines!

These will be available exclusively to members, so if you’re still debating as to whether or not you want to join our club –  we hope this blog post will inspire you to try us out or a few months.  We’d love for you to be able to experience the personality of these wines and feel the passion of the winemakers behind them.  These are people who truly respect and admire nature, and do very little to intervene in the work that Mother Earth do so beautifully on her own.

Vegan Wines takes pride in personally visiting each vineyard whose wines we represent, and we spend a vast amount of time touring both the vineyard and the winery, as well as speaking with vineyard managers, owners and other staff to ensure that the wines are in accordance with our standards.  Those are:

✔︎  no animals or animal by-products whatsoever used in the soil
or in making of the wine

✔︎  no harsh chemicals or additives that don’t belong in wine
✔︎ small family vineyards who take the time to create wines of
    high quality

✔︎ give you an experience, a story and inspiration to continue exploring wines

Below you will find a short summary of each winery and why we’ve chosen exactly these two to feature in our wine club.

QUERCIABELLA

Located in Greve in Chianti, this winery has been organic since 1988, biodynamic since the year 2000 and is 100% vegan from the soil to the glass.  This stunning winery is owned by business investor and vegan activist  Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni who oversees every detail and is as passionate about his wines as he is about animals.   This is one of the most significant wineries in Chianti Classico, and produce wine of world class quality.   They are dedicated both to preserving nature and respecting the earth, and even have established their own bee colonies in an effort to save the bees.  No honey is harvested from the bees, they are merely able to live in harmony in these biodynamically diverse and peaceful surroundings.  While they produce many wines, we decided to bring in two of their wines – members will get the first notice of which ones we picked!

We were fortunate enough to stay on the Querciabella estate in Greve while we were there.

PACINA

This winery is located in the DOCG Chianti Colli Senesi  in the town of Castelnuovo Berardenga.  It’s a super tiny and very charming estate run by a family consisting of parents Giovanna and Stefano (now 3rd generation) along with their daughter Maria.  This vineyard is 100% organic and no chemicals has been used in the soil ever, so the wine is really produced from the purest of sources.  They also produce olive oil, chickpeas, farro, vegetables and fruits – some of which we were fortunate enough to try!  This is such a special place, we can’t begin to describe how pure their wines are… but we are so excited that our members will get a chance to try them soon!
